Some of our favourite flagships in Oxford Circus have sadly had to make way in recent years — HMV and Topshop, we miss you.
But, a new kid is about to hit the block, and it’s pretty left of centre. Well, that’s dependent on how close the axe gets to the target, actually, because Whistle Punks are opening the largest venue of its kind (7,000 square feet) in Europe this year.
That’s right, you’ll soon be able to get in on the axe throwing craze slap bang in the centre of London, just 300 metres from Oxford Circus tube station, to be precise!
From September 1, adrenaline junkies can take to one of nine lanes and hurl some sharp objects at a target, which is sure to be quite the rush. Bigger rush than the sourdough pizza and cocktail you can devour afterwards? That, my friend, remains to be seen.
Whistle Punks brought their urban axe throwing and unique points system to the UK in 2016, and now estimate that over 15 million of the things have been thrown since that date at their four locations (London, Manchester, Leeds and Bristol).
Like at all their venues, guests will be treated to a quick masterclass before getting into the nitty gritty of beating your friends at the game. Who knows? Maybe you’ll become a master of the art in the 70 minute session. Plus, for each ticket sold, a tree is planted through Ecologi.
Whistle Punks will open their Oxford Street flagship on September 1, and you’ll find it at 52-53 Eastcastle Street, W1W 8ED. For now, you can head to their Vauxhall site at Arch 25, Handel Business Centre, 73 Bondway, Vauxhall, SW8 1SQ. Players must be aged 18 and over.
