Ever wanted to know what London looked like over a century ago? Thanks to this interactive map, which was created by Expedia and Google Maps, you can now see exactly how London has changed in the time between the beginning of the 20th Century and today.
Explore your way around some of London’s busiest and most famous landmarks, including Covent Garden (pictured below in 1905), Harrods (pictured above in 1940), Hyde Park and Piccadilly Circus. You can really see the stark contrast between the now bustling busy streets versus the comparatively quiet of the 1900’s.
It’s also interesting to get a glimpse of the fashion at different time periods, as seen outside of Buckingham Palace in 1908 (pictured above).
Have a play around with your map yourself. We suggest you have a look at Oxford Street – it looks much more bearable to walk down in the early 1900’s!
