As part of a social enterprise project helping to get long-term unemployed people back into work, this September, The Good Hotel will open on the Royal Victoria Dock. The 144-room property will offer training to unemployed people, and give them a chance to find long-term work.
[An artist’s impression of The Good Hotel. The Guardian]Set up by the Good Hospitality Group, the Good Hotel is not a charity, but a not-for-profit business that reinvests all its money back into their businesses, people and education. It previously opened in Amsterdam last June and is soon to be transported across the sea to our capital (via tug boats!). Groups of trainees are taken on for a 10 month period, in which they gain experience working in the hotel. The hotel itself will offer first-class facilities and services to its guests, as well as a green oasis-like roof garden. Check out the website for more information.
