It’s December and that can only mean one thing: Christmas.
And while we’re all for indulging in a few mince pies and some overpriced mulled wine at a market every now and then, the relentless deluge of festive cheer can become rather wearing. We must have heard Michael Bublé’s infamous Christmas album at least ten times already this year! Don’t worry though, because we’ve put together a round-up of things to do in the capital this December that have absolutely nothing to do with jolly old St Nick…
1. Star Wars™: Secrets of the Empire (Westfield London, Shepherd’s Bush)
Fancy experiencing a never before seen Star Wars story first hand? This hyper-reality experience at Westfield London (Shepherd’s Bush) wants to make your childhood dreams come true with a chance to physically step inside the beloved Star Wars universe. This virtual multi-sensory experience from The VOID and ILMxLAB will take you on a journey behind enemy lines disguised as stormtroopers – and you can bet there’ll be plenty of opportunities to use your blaster! It’s open from 16th December to 7th March and bookings are now open here. This experience is – unsurprisingly – expected to be extremely popular, so we recommend you kick things into hyperdrive and book sooner rather than later!
2. Actually go and watch Star Wars: The Last Jedi
While we’re on the subject of Star Wars, we reckon you’d definitely also enjoy a trip to the cinema to watch Star Wars: The Last Jedi, which came out last Friday. It would be weird not to mention this one really! The reviews are out and it’s fair to say it’s looking like a smash! Just take a look at our review round-up post here. Psst! We’re offering discounted Odeon Cinema tickets here.
3. Enjoy an evening of tapas, sangria and flamenco
The Christmas party canapes have started to become a little repetitive by this point. Set pub menus featuring (surprise, surprise) roast turkey and all the trimmings just won’t cut it anymore. So, we recommend shaking up your food boredom with an evening of tapas, sangria and flamenco at Salvador and Amanda for £40 for two people, all-in. This is available at both Bloomsbury and Covent Garden locations, are there are loads of available dates to go over the Christmas period. What are you waiting for? Ándale! Get your tickets here.
4. Jump in at Ballie Ballerson’s bottomless brunch (Shoreditch)
Everyone’s favourite ball pit bar is doing bottomless brunch. And if the words ‘ball pit bar’ and ‘bottomless brunch’ aren’t doing it for you, then you might as well stop reading here. For £40 you can enjoy two hours of bottomless pizza and prosecco while frolicking in a giant pit filled with luminous balls. What more could you possibly want? Get your tickets here.
5. Go and play some crazy golf
6. Go to the theatre
