Beer may not be the answer, but it certainly is the question quite a lot of the time.
We’re attempting to solve the age old question of ‘Which pub are we going to?’ with our Secret London guide to the best regional boozers. And this time we’re honing in on all you Londoners living north of the river. Psst! For a limited time only Hop House 13 are offering you a free pint at all of these pubs with the Fever app. All the more reason to check these bad boys out…
1. The Old Dairy (Crouch Hill)
Wondering why this pub has its name? Well, The Old Dairy used to actually be a functioning creamery back in the Victorian era, and this place really is the cream of the crop, the creme de la creme, the… Well, you get the picture. It’s a really nice pub. It’s got loads of comfy seating, friendly staff, and they do a cracking Sunday roast. What more could you ask for?

2. The Oxford (Kentish Town)
This stylish establishment in Kentish Town serves up some fantastic pub grub, and it’s also recently opened an upstairs cocktail lounge – the perfect place to take your mates and impress them with your detailed London drinking knowledge. The stylish interiors speak for themselves, but it also happens to be ideally located for a pre O2 Forum pint if you fancy making an evening of it.
256 Kentish Town Road, Kentish Town, NW5 2AA
3. The Masons Arms (Kensal Green)
This 19th century number in Kensal Green is anything but old fashioned. Their resident DJs will keep you entertained while you indulge in a free pint and a sharing platter… or two. Honestly, who could bring themselves to share something so delicious? Sit back on one of their classic Chesterfield sofas and enjoy your drink in style. You’ve earned it.

4. The Vine (Kentish Town)
If you need a little respite from the hipster bustle of Kentish Town we’ve found the perfect place. There are only so many vegan coffee shops you can take before you need a proper pub, after all. This impressive Edwardian building boasts a particularly well located garden when it comes to catching some rays, so you might even be able to enjoy a flavoursome pint of Hop House 13 in the last of the autumn sunshine. Just make sure you bring your coat!
86 Highgate Rd, Highgate, NW5 1PB
5. The North London Tavern (Kilburn)
This pub might have recently had a snazzy interior makeover, but it’s still managing to tread the fine line between old and new. It’s sticking to its roots with a best of British menu. Start off with an English Charcuterie Board before chowing down on a perfectly cooked rump of Norfolk lamb. There’s even a cheeky curry option for those of you who can’t imagine a Saturday night without sinking a few pakoras.
375 Kilburn High Rd, Kilburn, NW6 7QB
6. The Black Lion (West Hampstead)
This gem of a north London pub sits in the perfect spot to take in the sunset, so we recommend heading over at around 4pm to take in the golden hour (with a pint clutched in your gloved hand) before heading inside to warm up with some food. They serve up a selection of pub favourites and seasonal sharers – make ours a baked camembert with apricot jam – so you won’t be leaving hungry!
295-297 West End Ln, NW6 1RD
