He might have spent your teenage years embarrassing you in front of your friends with a series of dad jokes, but you still love him.
So it’s time to show him how much you care. We’ve put together a list of seven things you can do in the capital this year to give your old man a day to remember.
1. Barbecoa Piccadilly’s steak and whisky pairing menu
[Barbecoa]Jamie Oliver’s newest restaurant, Barbecoa in Piccadilly, is offering a steak and whisky pairing menu for the manliest dads around. If your dad’s apartment smells of rich mahogany and he owns many leather-bound books, we think this sophisticated offer will be right up his street. The menu costs £55 per person, includes four whisky pairings alongside five courses – including a mouthwatering rump steak – and is available all day from 11.30am on Saturday 17th and Sunday 18th June at the Piccadilly branch of Barbecoa.
2. Nerd out at a sci-fi special
[Barbican]If your dad’s more serious about his science fiction than his steak, these geeky treats could be perfect for him. There are three, yes three, exhibitions happening in London this Sunday for the extraterrestrially inclined, so you’ll have your pick of the planets. Check out the Barbican Centre’s Into The Unknown,Star Wars Identities at the O2, and the Museum of Brands’ Beam Me Back, Scotty exhibition.
3. Lunch at Firedog followed by a free haircut at Ted’s Grooming Room
[Firedog]If you book a celebratory lunch or dinner at meze mecca Firedog this Saturday 17th or Sunday 18th (and quote TOPDOGDAD at booking) your old man will receive a voucher for a free haircut at Ted’s Grooming Room. An easy way to pay him back for all the money you’ve borrowed and conveniently forgotten to pay back over the years.
4. Enjoy an ale (or two) on a brewery tour
[Camden Town Brewery]There are loads of great options when it comes to London brewery tours. These highly educational tours are definitely not just convenient excuses to drink beer, but we’re sure beer drinking will be involved. Check out Fuller’s in Chiswick, Camden Town Brewery or London Fields Brewery in Hackney.
5. Burger and a beer for £10 at Byron
[Byron]If you want to show your pops just how much he means to you, but you’re also a little bit strapped for cash, you can’t go wrong with a beer and a burger for £10 at Byron. Enjoy a ‘The Cheese’ burger and a Byron lager or pale ale when you book with Bookatable this year. They’re calling it ‘the cheeseburger that dreams are made of’ so expectations are high.
6. Taste of London Festival
[Taste of London]This year, Father’s Day coincides with the delicious Taste of London festival. Whether your dad fancies himself as a five star chef or just enjoys eating (which basically applies to everyone) this one’s a good bet. Expect cooking and cocktail classes, tastings, celebrity chefs, and street food. At the moment you can get tickets to Taste of London at a discounted price here.
