We can’t help but notice a real pathetic fallacy (a fancy term for when the weather reflects our mood) in London this week. It’s cold, bleak and rainy, and America now have a fake-tanned fart for a president. We may not be in the States, but we’re still in a state. We’re all in need of some comfort and warmth in this cold and crazy world, so we’ve got some lovely ideas for you that will cheer you up and help you forget all that it is wrong with humanity (even if only for a while).
1. Get festive at the Cinema in the Snow
[Pop Up Screens]Since we can never guarantee real snow in this country, Pop Up Screens have decided to give us all a white Christmas with their series of festive screenings at the Cinema in the Snow. (We know we promised these things would keep you snug and warm, so don’t worry, it’s all indoors). Enter Hackney’s very own Winter Wonderland through a Narnia inspired wardrobe. Through the doors you’ll find posh popcorn, brownies, hot chocolate and mulled wine to keep you toasty and festive. So why not snuggle up in the fake snow and watch your favourite Christmas movie? (That’s ‘Elf’ by the way — and if it’s not your favourite, you’re wrong). Book through Fever here.

2. Watch some live music at the Piano Bar
[Piano Bar Soho]One of London’s best kept secrets (until now), The Piano Bar is a place of sanctuary just a tiny stroll away from the manic bustle of Oxford Street. Walk through the inconspicuous doorway into the candlelit bar, sip on a cocktail and listen to some live jazz. It’s intimate ambience makes it the perfect spot for a cosy date night. Entrance is only permitted if you have a booking or a Club Membership, so we suggest you book through our pals at Fever to avoid disappointment (and feel like a VIP).

3. Watch some comedy at 99 Club
[99 Club Comedy]It’s bloody freezing, Donald Trump is president of the United States and we’re all in need of a little pick-me-up. We reckon a bit of comedy is the answer. They do say that laughter is the best medicine after all. 99 Club is the perfect retreat from the bitterly cold outdoors, and they have some top comedians lined up for your viewing pleasure. They don’t call it the ‘Best Comedy Club in London’ for nothing (a title its held for 5 years straight). Book through Fever here.

4. See a film for an absolute bargain
[Flickr | Ewan Munro]ODEON have paired up with our pals at Fever to bring you super cheap tickets for any film, any time, any day. Adult tickets are usually £14.95, but you can get them for the bargain price of £7.50 if you download Fever. Maybe you fancy seeing that new sci-fi film about the aliens, or perhaps you’re waiting for Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them to be released on November 18. Either way, you can book your ticket now and use it whenever you like, for whatever you like. Here’s the link.

5. Go and see The Bodyguard at the theatre
[Nederlander | Dominion Theatre]Release your inner Whitney Houston and practise your high notes while singing along to some absolute classics, including I Will Always Love You. (Don’t actually do this because you might piss everybody off). Trust us, you won’t want to miss this incredible romantic thriller! Book from £25 through Fever.
