5 Snuggly Mulled Wine Spots To Add Some Spice To Your London Life

The winter chill has officially set in making mulled wine (and cider, but for that, watch this space) a staple item of our diet. It’s warming, it’s spicy, it’s alcoholic (but not so alcoholic that makes one at lunchtime too risky…) and therefore, it’s our new best friend. Meet our favourite 5 in London…they’re kinda great.

1. Big Easy

Typically a meat mecca, Big Easy is also a haven for cocktails. This winter they’ve added a hottie to the list, meaning you can wash down your smoky grills, ribs and crabs with a classy take on mulled wine. The Belle And The Bishop is made with red wine, Madeira, bitters, cinnamon and ginger — and yes, it’s as toasty as it sounds.

2. Night Tales

This Old Street pop-up cocktail fest has a Hot Hut dedicated to winter warmers with a twist. Try an almond-flavoured hot White Russian, a warm Espresso Martini, and — our favourite — a spiced mulled Negroni (so not exactly mulled wine per se, but just as good…if not, dare we say it, better!) There’s also a warming fire pit, live music and no shortage of street food! Running only on Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights until 14 December though, so hurry!

3. Bavarian Beerhouse

Shockingly, beer is the main focus point of this fun watering hole…but damn is their gluhwein good too! The Germans clearly know how to do alcoholic bevs right so pop by for a gluhwein or winter apple schnapps, served by the venue’s ‘Santa Frauleins’ — that’s ladies dressed in naughty Santa suits, should you wonder…how about a frankfurter while you’re there too?

4. The Hide Bar

Set handily close to Borough Market, this is a great sheltered apres-market pitstop to recover from all the taster eating…and what better way to do so than with a good ol’ mulled wine? It is no surprise that these cocktail connoisseurs dish out a good drink but their mulled wine is SUMMAT ELSE! Simple as it may be, The Hide Bar seriously outdoes it self with this fruity festivity…but you better try it just in case! We’d also recommend their eggnog and hot toddies (not that we’ve tried them all or anything…)

5. The Bull Brewpub

The Bull…a charming little place where the mulled wine will quite literally knock your socks right off. Steaming cinnamon, cardamom, aniseed and orange with the hint of liquorice – the Bull knows how to wine right!
