Quit your whining, we know this is an American tradition but it’s also a reason to celebrate, be (more) merry and eat disgusting amounts of food. So why on earth would we not jump on the bandwagon? We also shouldn’t ignore the fact that the North American expat community is forever increasing in London – and we like to make everyone feel at home. So without further ado, here’s a couple of totally rad, bitchin’ ways to celebrate Thanksgiving in London.
1. Order a take away (take out) Thanksgiving meal from Bea’s of Blooomsbury
2. Party like a college student at Red, White and Blue Thanksgiving Party
If you’re a student at the University of London (which is basically a collection of all the universities in London, i.e. one MASSIVE party) then you’re in for a treat this Friday night. Student Central Bars are throwing a party to celebrate the American holiday and we’ve been tipped off that it’s going to be a big’un. In true student style, there will be cheap drinks (and even cheaper drinks if you download the Fever app), with a happy hour from 9-10pm. And by the way, we’re talking uni-cheap, not London-cheap (hello there £2 drinks). Entry is free before 9pm when the DJ set begins but make sure you’re in by midnight otherwise you’ll turn into a pumpkin – or simply not get let in.

3. Chow down on this special Thanksgiving burger at Bodean’s
Oh hi there, big boy, it’s nice to eat you. 6oz of succulent seasoned turkey patty, sitting on homemade corn stuffing, topped with tangy cranberry relish, fresh watercress and a hand-carved slice of juicy turkey ham smothered in thick gravy. Now that’s what we call an American burger. This limited edition feast in a bun, called the Pilgrim, is available to order at all branches of Bodean’s until the 27th November, meaning strictly speaking, it doesn’t just have to be a one occasion only thing… After all, a burger is for life, not just for Thanksgiving.
4. Go Barn Dancing at GOAT
5. Have a monster meal at The Diner
The Diner knows how to pig out, especially when America’s favourite holiday comes around. This November, start as you mean to go on with the ‘Turkey Frito Pie‘. As terrifying as it sounds, this crazy dish consists of a slashed bag of Frito corn chips (if you’ve ever been to the States, you’ll know what we’re on about here…) topped with shredded turkey, sour cream, guacamole and jalapenos. If you’re after a gut-buster, try the ‘Waffle Gobbler‘. Rather aptly named, it’s a crisp fried turkey burger filled with cranberries and cream cheese sauce stuffed between two sweet potato waffles. If you’ve got any space on the side of that (respect), try the classic ‘Pigs in Blankets‘, which staying true to form, come drowning in macaroni cheese. We don’t know whether to laugh or cry.
The limited edition menu is available in all 8 Diner locations from 26 November – 06 December
