We’re hanging on until pay day, but that doesn’t mean we have to sit around weeping in our expensive, sweltering hot flats (cupboards), watching the Celebrity Masterchef final and trying to imagine we’re eating something other than microwaved scrambled egg & beans. Don’t give up on London altogether just yet – there are still things you can afford.
[Jerusalem Bar and Kitchen]A fuss-free bar and kitchen, perfect for relaxed vibes and unpretentious food in a central location. In this special offer, which is available to book on Fever, you can choose a cocktail, alongside a main dish and a starter or desert. Options include tender BBQ pork ribs, calamari with fries and halloumi wraps. If your office is in Soho, Jerusalem is an ideal spot for a chilled-out evening wind down after work. Oh, and FYI, there’s also happy hour until 10pm.
[Papilles at The Brew]After a long day, there’s nothing better than spending an evening with your best pal (yes, wine). And, as Papilles at the Brew are running a charcuterie board and wine offer for two people, you can bring your second best pal too. Skip the M&S dine in for two weekly treat and head to Old Street to enjoy the snack-lovers ultimate fave selection of meats and cheeses, no effort required. Book for only £15 (so £7.50 each) here.
Even if you’re scrimping towards the end of the month, you’ll be surprised but certainly pleased to know that you can still find yourself somewhere glamorous on a Friday night. Even if you don’t consider yourself the ‘glamorous’ type, it’s hard not to see the attraction of the 1.5 acres of elevated botanical paradise of The Roof Gardens. Located above Kensington High Street, entry to The Roof Gardens is only £15 and included in the price is a welcome drink (if you arrive between 8 and 9pm). Book your place for Friday night here.
[La Brasserie]Lobster is a decadent treat that we often deny ourselves (or just avoid thinking about altogether). You’d assume that lobster in London would be as expensive as it comes, however, La Brasserie in Chelsea are proving us all wrong. They’re serving up a whole, fresh and extremely meaty native lobster for under £20, which you can book through Fever here. Don’t expect a limp, unsatisfying shellfish either, despite the pleasant price, the quality is superb.
[Ivory and Calico]No, you haven’t forgotten to put your contact lenses in. You are reading correctly; a three course meal in a prime location on the Thames, with incredible views of London lit up is actually affordable. The Banyan, situated in the Battersea area, are serving up a summer sizzling menu of grilled goodness, with many Asian influences. With Fever you can choose between 3 tempting set menus, with dishes including Tandoori Lamb Chops, Thai Vegetable Curry and Malaysian Beef Rendang. You can book your place here.
