Preparations for Pancake Day underway? Yep, we feel like it’s crêped up on us too. Eggs, flour, milk, perfected hand flip and safety googles at the ready… Shrove Tuesday is upon us! And if some of you aren’t willing to risk batter-covered ceilings and would instead rather bounce upon the fluffy dream cloud that is a well-made pancake, then look no further. London’s got you covered.
1. No. 32 The Old Town, Clapham
32 The Pavement, SW4 0JE
2. Heddon Street Kitchen, Piccadilly
Heddon Street Kitchen is Gordon Ramsay’s Brasserie located just off Regent’s Street (on Heddon Street, would you believe), and has some of the most beautifully presented and totally delicious pancakes for us all this Shrove Tuesday. From white chocolate and raspberry to the more adventurous caramelised banana with crispy smoked bacon, the tastiness just does not stop. Drool-worthy indeed!
3–9 Heddon St, W1B 4BE
3. Drake and Morgan, King’s Cross
Drake and Morgan are celebrating pancake day this year by offering their American-style pancakes all day long. Fluffy blueberry goodness for breakfast, lunch and dinner, my friend. But they don’t stop there. For those that are looking to practise their tossing skills (noooo, naughty…), their chefs have also agreed to teach a few lessons in pancake-flipping techniques. Sessions are at 8:30am, 10am and 3pm, so visit their website for more information!
4. MILK, Balham
The pancakes at this Aussie-run cute cake spot are made from gluten-free buckwheat. Past toppings have included: honey mascarpone, raspberries and whey crunch, and Yorkshire forced rhubarb with strawberries, Sussex Downs crème fraîche and coconut sugar. The menu changes each week and is announced via their Instagram…so without further ado, FLIPPERS AT THE READY PLEASE!
