5 Magical Beer Gardens In London You Wouldn’t Know Were There…

Is there anything more satisfying to the curious Londoner than coming across an unassuming place that has an absolutely glorious beer garden (out the back or on top)? We don’t think so, which is why we’ve given you a little kick-start on your quest to find London’s ultimate garden bar.

1. Proud Wonderland, Camden

Talk about falling down the rabbit hole! Last month Proud Camden launched their Alice In Wonderland themed rooftop terrace celebrating 150 years of Lewis Carrol’s novel, complete with some pretty incredible decor, cocktails, cakes and live music. The terrace bar is open to the public 7 days a week, from 11am to 1am. Every Saturday you can join the Mad Hatter for a tea party in Wonderland. Book a table by calling 020 7482 3867 or email camdenreservations@proud.co.uk.

2. The Water Poet, Shoreditch

When you walk past this unassuming pub on the corner of one of Shoreditch’s cobbled streets, you wouldn’t imagine the wonderful decked garden that’s located out back. The Water Poet’s garden truly comes alive at night – once it’s lit up with fairy lights and made to look quite magical. The stuff of poetry, you could say.

3. The Edinboro Castle, Mornington Crescent

On the edge of Regent’s Park, The Edinboro Castle flaunts its vibrant and well decked-out beer garden, complete with an outdoor BBQ in the summer. With space for up to 300 people, there’s certainly enough room to bring to whole gang. And again, these guys know the effectiveness of fairy lights to create a splendid evening atmosphere.

4. The Eagle, Shepherds Bush

If you’re up for some serious chill time, the The Eagle’s garden is kitted out with many-a deckchair and bean bag. For those of you who like to have a couple of beers and fall asleep in the sun, you may well have just found your Eden. But please remember to top up the SPF before you snooze.

5. Queen of Hoxton, Shoreditch

[Queen of Hoxton]
The ever-changing rooftop in Shoreditch has whacked out another brilliant theme this summer. It’s taking a psychadelic turn and dedicating the terrace to Dr Strange. They are also showing movies with the wonderful Rooftop Film Club.
