London is not only full of stories, but also full of storeys…….. *eye rolls and tumbleweed*. London’s skyline is set to look very different in 3 years time. This is what architects and builders are up to all across the city…
1. The Scalpel
[The Scalpel]The ‘Scalpel’ will stand next to the ‘Cheesegrater’ and is built on a slant so it doesn’t spoil the view of St Paul’s. It’ll be offices for fancy companies with lots of money.
2. Two Fifty One
[Two Fifty One]Two Fifty One in Elephant and Castle, right by Mercato Metropolitano will be a 41 storey tower. It will be residential for the most part, but you’ll also find a gym, a private cinema and a couple of restaurants.
3. Manhattan Plaza
[Telford Homes]This swanky residential development was inspired by New York’s Meatpacking District, and is set to be ready by the end of 2017.

[Berkeley Group]This development, due to be completed this year, will have many uses, including a boutique hotel, restaurant and theatre.
9. One Blackfriars
[Berkeley Group]One Blackfriars is set to have 50 storeys, housing both residents and a 161 bedroom hotel. It’s already been nicknamed the Vase (through lack of a better name we presume?) and it will change colour with the sky.
10. Embassy Gardens
[Embassy Gardens]This new complex will comprise of two residential towers that will be linked by a “Sky Pool”, a park, and the new US Embassy building… hence Embassy Gardens.

13. Manhattan Loft Gardens
[GC Privé | Private Office | Youtube]Manhattan Loft Gardens will be full of outdoor space, meaning residents are never any further than 9 storeys away from a loft or sky garden. There’ll also be a pool, a spa, and fantastic views over Olympic Park.
14. London City Island
[London City Island]Yes, an Island. Surrounded entirely by water. (Besides a bridge of course… we’re not about to start paddling). It’s set to be the English National Ballet HQ, as well as homes, offices, restaurants, shops and walking/cycling paths.

17. The Can of Ham
[Foggo Associates]What is it with London giving stupid pet names to its buildings? The Can of Ham is due to arrive in 2019, after a very long construction process (building continued in 2015 after a 6 year break).
18. 22 Bishopsgate
[PLP Architecture]22 Bishopsgate is due to rock up in 2019, and it will be the highest free-to-visit public space in London.
19. Ram Brewery
[EPR Architects]RAM Brewery is set to be a new urban quarter for Wandsworth, and it will include a triangular 36-storey residential tower.
20. Spire London
[Spire London]Boasting a huge 67 storeys, the Spire will become Europe’s tallest residential skyscraper (just as high as Canary Wharf’s tallest skyscraper, One Canada Square). It’s already got the name, the Flower Tower, because the design was based on an orchid, but we think it looks a little bit like something else…..
