It’s not every day that you see a horde of hot air balloons floating over the city at sunrise.
Here’s 14 amazing photos of the event to prove that it did actually happen.
Over the weekend, over 30 hot air balloons soared over east London…
…as part of the Lord Mayor’s annual Balloon Regatta.
The balloons took to the skies just after 7am…
…starting at London City Airport and making their way towards Dagenham, Hornchurch, Upminster, Brentwood, and Billericay.
Meanwhile, most of us were still in bed ?
(It was a Sunday morning, after all)
The epic convoy of balloons was, of course, led by the Lord Mayor and Lady Mayoress: both waving proudly over the city.
The event is all to raise money for charities chosen by the Lord Mayor…
…and it’s managed to raise over £125,000 in the previous 2 years alone.
As British weather is so damn flaky, they had to set aside 3 different dates for the event…
But luckily Sunday was their first scheduled date, and the weather didn’t disappoint.
Nice work, London.
We’re proud of you ?
