It’s not too late to make plans for a weekend to remember.
It’s almost time for our favourite two days of the week, so we’ve put together a quick round-up of all the fantastic events on offer in London this weekend…
Friday
e
1. The Candlelight Club, Friday 19th May
This secret location 1920s speakeasy event returns to the capital this weekend. While the Saturday night session is now sold out you can still grab tickets for this dance hall delight here. Party like the great Jay Gatsby with live jazz bands, cabaret shows and vintage DJ sets in full ‘roaring twenties’ costume. It’s not too late for an impromptu night out, so get your tickets here.
2. Open Senses Festival, Friday 19th – Sunday 21st May
This festival runs for the entire weekend so there’s plenty of time for you to experience this event. Expect a weekend of… well, we’re not entirely sure what to expect, but the organisers promise ‘A weekend festival of art exhibitions, live events and performances, sensory journeys and walks, open studios and labs’. Oh, and a ‘ground-breaking symposium’. Intrigued? Find out more detail about the events being held across the city here.
3. UCL Museums‘ Murder Mystery, Friday 19th May
Slip on your deerstalker hat and pull out your pipe, because you’re in for an evening of clue-solving fun at this interactive murder mystery. A body has been found (don’t worry it’s only make-believe) and your help is required to help crack the case. This free event is looking for teams of five or more to participate. There are even prizes on offer for the ‘best dressed detectives’. Register your team and find out more information about the event here.
Saturday
4. Sicily Fest, Saturday 20th – Sunday 21st May
Check out our article for more information on this delicious-looking Italian street food market being held in Bishops Square this weekend.
5. Ballie Ballerson’s Ball Pit‘s Bottomless Brunch, Saturday 20th – Sunday 21st May
Prepare to dive in to a giant adult-only ball pit and drink all the Prosecco and eat all of the spaghetti you desire at Ballie Ballerson’s Bottomless Brunch. Spend the weekend reliving your childhood glory days (and then some) with all your mates. Being an adult isn’t all bad. You can buy your tickets here.
6. The Shoreditch Big Night Out Pub Crawl, Saturday 20th May
Sunday
7. Inner Temple Dog Show, Sunday 21st May
This one’s going to the dogs. The Chelsea Fringe are celebrating the ‘bond between gardener and dog’ with the return of this yearly puppy parade. Man’s best friend will be the centre of attention at this ‘alternative’ dog show. The judges will be awarding best in show for categories such as ‘the waggiest tail’, ‘garden agility’ and ‘best floral outfit’. Find more information about the event here.
8. BMW London Symphony Orchestra Open Air Classics
The London Symphony Orchestra are taking their music to the streets with this open air performance of a selection of concert classics. The show will begin at 6.30pm and it’s being held in the majestic Trafalgar Square. The best news is you won’t have to pay a penny to experience the beautiful sounds of the LSO so even the savviest saver doesn’t need to worry about breaking the bank. You can find more information about the event here.
9. Urban Village Fete, Sunday 21st May
The Urban Village Fete returns to Greenwich Peninsula for the third year running this Sunday and it’s set to be a fun filled day out that offers for everyone (as long as the weather holds up!). This event is said to put ‘an alternative, contemporary twist on the traditional summer fete’ events that we all know and love. Featuring a selection of trendy stalls, loads of street food, art workships, and a series of talks hosted by BBC Radio London’s Robert Elm. Get more information about the event specifics here.
10. London Craft Swish, Sunday 21st May
This event offers all you creative-types an opportunity to swap your unwanted materials for someone else’s unwanted materials. You know what they say: one man’s trash is another man’s treasure. Well, this event is a living, breathing embodiment of that phrase. Head to Camden this Sunday for an opportunity to have a clear out and leave with something lovely. Book your tickets and find out more information here.
11. Musical Bingo Bottomless Brunch Party, Sunday 21st May
It might be the day of rest, but there certainly won’t be much resting going on at this tropical beach bonanza. Get ready for a day of live entertainment, more food than you could shake a stick at and bottomless Sangria de Cava (basically a fruity sangria topped with cava) from 1-2pm. It’s likely to be a rather difficult Monday morning after this blow-out… But we promise it’ll be worth it! Get your tickets to the Tropicana Beach Club event here.
