We’ve all been faced with the pure aggravation of train delays and disruptions at one point or another (i.e at least once a day). Transport services like to use just about any excuse they can, and we searched the internet high and low to find the funniest ones you’ve heard…
1. *Shrugs*
2. “Sod the smooth running of the tube, let’s throw a party!”
3. At least he was honest…
Train driver announcement of the day: “I’m very sorry, everyone. The last station was Elephant & Castle and I completely forgot to stop”.

4. You’re forgiven…
Great sign at Dalston Kingsland station this morning #pokemongo #pokemongouk pic.twitter.com/N7TLmbCtxB

5. “Nah, cba for work today”
“We apologise for the delay to this train. We’re currently waiting for a driver & guard.”
As excuses go for a train not moving, that’s A+.

5. And of course, there are these absolute classics…
Haven't had the 'leaves on line' excuse for train delays for ages, usually comes before 'the wrong kind of snow'
— Bizz Creative Media (@PortfolioBizz) November 10, 2015
6. Somebody even wrote a poem about them…
Signal failures, more delays
Throughout all commuter pays.
Flooding, leaves, wrong type of snow
Every chance of running slow. @fgw— Sarah Stokes (@_kirameki_) February 10, 2014
7. Literally any excuse…
Train delay excuses: We've had leaves on the line, too hot, too cold, but now we've got "too much sunshine"!! https://t.co/TjaF470noM

8. Shout out to the nation’s favourite rail service…
#southeastern what's the excuse for delays this time? Wrong type of atmosphere? Too many particles in the air? F*cking stupid trains
— Lee (@Hotdesigner) June 29, 2011
9. Har har…
Following the success of the #NightTube, Southern Rail have announced that they might start running trains during the day.

10. This one pretty much sums up London in the summer…
Delays due to hot.

11. Yeah, so basically…
Trains – can you handle this? Buses – can you handle this? Trams – can you handle this? We don’t think they can handle this. Delays.
