From 14th-18th June, Waterloo’s Millennium Green will be transformed into a colourful, multi-level wine and tapas bar inspired by Campo Viejo’s wonderful winery in Spain.
Campo Viejo, the wicked wine guys that brought us the floating wine bar on Clapham Common last year, are taking tapas and vino to a whole new level – quite literally. Bringing together London’s love of pop-ups, street food and wine, this exciting experience will have you seriously questioning your wine-drinking habits. (Let’s just say you’ll be thinking twice before pulling the classic “second cheapest bottle” trick when you’re next in a restaurant – the Sauvignon Blanc won’t go with your steak, darling).
Campo Viejo and Donostia Social Club have worked their cupid-like magic to set up some perfect matches of tapas and wine…
Swap an air conditioned flight to northern Spain for a sweaty trip on the Northern line and tuck into tapas and wine until your heart’s content. Campo Viejo has teamed up with POP Brixton’s Donostia Social Club to work their cupid-like magic and set up some perfect matches of food and wine. Book onto one of their food and wine pairing masterclasses to enjoy the likes of cava and cheesecake or white wine and octopus; all scientifically matched to show off their respective flavours.
Drink glorious Rioja wines served to you by a giant robotic sculpture…
Explore the many levels of the pop-up, including a balcony that boasts incredible views of the city, and drink glorious Rioja wines served to you by a giant robotic arm. This 10ft tall sculpture senses when you’re close and will slowly bow down to fill your glass with wine. If this is what they meant when they said robots would one day take over the world, we’re cool with that…
Put on your lab coat and create your very own bottle of wine…
Besides the food and wine pairing classes and the futuristic robot bartender, there will also be the chance to make your very own bottle of wine. Learn the science behind the drink (trust us, there’s more to wine than meets the mouth), pop on a lab coat and get serious with some test tubes as you experiment with different grapes to create a totally unique bottle of wine. Book tickets for both masterclasses here.
Campo Viejo’s Fiesta de Color will take place at Millennium Green between the 14-18th June. It will be open on Wednesday 6-11pm, Thursday and Friday 4-11pm and Saturday and Sunday 12-11pm. Last orders 22:45.
And remember, please drink Campo Viejo responsibly.
