Want to do something nice with your S.O. or your T.D. (that’s Tinder Date) but your bank account has other ideas? We hear ya. But not all is lost! We’ve got some pretty smashing ideas that are guaranteed to impress, without leaving you to cry into your beans on toast for the rest of the month.
As date locations go, this one’s pretty failsafe. With 2 cocktails for £10 you’ll run out of money at half the speed you would if you were anywhere else in Mayfair — and that’s assuming cocktails anywhere else in Mayfair cost £10, which is hugely optimistic (i.e. a big lie). At Mews, you can enjoy a romantic Espresso Martini (or four) in a stunning bar tucked away in a hidden courtyard, not too far from the busy bustle of Oxford Street. So an amorous afternoon of negronis could be followed by a passionate Primark trip. Although we wouldn’t recommend it…
The best way to find out if somebody is “the one” is to test out their sense of humour. Why not take them to 99 Club in Leicester Square (yes, we suggested going there) and see how they fare? 99 Club has been voted the “Best Comedy Club in London” year after year, so chances are you’re in for a knee-slapping treat. They often have comedians who have cracked jokes on the likes of 8 Out Of 10 Cats, Mock The Week, Live At The Apollo, etc… so, at just £9 a ticket, you’re laughing (hopefully).
If you’re the classy type, or if it’s early days with your S.O. and you’re still trying to keep up the facade that you’re the classy type, then tell them to meet you at the CC Bar at the Hilton on Park Lane. There you can *classily* pig out on a delicious aperitivo platter and sip on fancy Champagne cocktails.
Who said posh dining needed to cost the world? At Podium Restaurant and Bar at the Hilton it only costs £49. And that’s for 2 of you. Choose from a big ole’ list of starters, mains and desserts (we’re already eyeing up the Chocolate and Peanut Parfait) and sip on a nice glass of fizz, all while you enjoy a romantic evening with your other half.
