Soya-fields Market? Quorn Street? I-can’t-believe-it’s-just-nuts Lane? Well, no. It’s called the Hackney Downs Vegan Market and it’s absolutely fabulous. Coming to London every 3rd Saturday of each month between 11am and 5pm, this is the joint venture between the fabulous Fat Gay Vegan and Eat Work Art. First came the vegan fried chicken shop, and now this… and it’s total tofurky food porn. Here’s a taste of what to expect…

Young Vegans – the London favourite, pie and mash (and gluten free brownies for afters)

Peanut Butter Bakery – the most beautiful donuts in the world

Big V London – gourmet burgers and sweet potato fries

Vegan Delice – cupcakes, tray bakes and biscuits baked with love

Rupert’s Street – healthy, seasonal food that has been locally sourced

Temple of Seitan – DIRTY CHEESEBURGER DEBUT

Club Mexicana – BBQ pulled jackfruit tacos and burritos, loaded cheesy nachos and beer-battered cheese fries. Ah

Café SoVegan – seitan burgers with all the trimmings, mac and cheese and cheesecakes

GreenBay Supermarket – chocolate bars, whipped cream, marshmallows and assorted vegan snacks/groceries

That’s what is in store for today’s market open ’til 5pm, plus a beer bottle and can bar, clothes stalls as well as a few resident artists and traders from within Hackney Downs Studios. Upcoming market days to add to your diary are April 15th, May 20th and June 17th.
