We love our mums, but let’s face it, Mother’s Day can end up being somewhat of an investment with all the luxury afternoon teas, days outs and restaurant bookings to make. If you’re a little strapped for cash or just want to love your mother on a budget, here’s a little round up of some of the best Mother’s Day related things for under £25.

1. Mamma Mia, here I go again…

Nightstar Cinema are hosting another pop up cinema event and this time round, it’s on Mother’s Day! The perfect quirky event to impress mum, Pop Brixton are screening Mamma Mia to get mum in that perfect musical mood, they also have food and drink options to wine and dine a little beforehand!

Book tickets here.

2. Stuck for gift ideas? Get something a little different this year and indulge mum with a box of biscuits!

Chocolates are so outdated and these little boxes of perfectly baked and decorated biscuit cards from The Biscuiteers will be sure to put a smile on mum’s face. Starting from only £9, you’re sure to find the right box … just be sure you don’t eat them all yourself!

3. A traditional afternoon tea … for less!

Afternoon teas are notoriously extravagant and expensive but when purse strings are tight, they’re not always the cheapest option. The good thing is that many places offer Mother’s Day deals especially for this purpose! Mews of Mayfair are putting on a Spring Afternoon Tea for only £24.37 per person and you can eat all the macaroons, drizzle cake and scones till your heart’s content!

Alternatively, check out Muriel’s Kitchen where they’re doing afternoon tea for only £15.75 per person! This adorable afternoon tea has all the classic treats available as well as tempting brownie bites and lemon meringue pie…

4. Make her day blossom that little bit more

Every mother loves flowers so why not pick some up from Columbia Road Flower Market? If you’re that organised, get yourself down to the market when it opens on Sunday at 8am. Or why not make it into a day activity and take mum along to pick out her own bespoke bouquet?

5. A free lunch is always a good lunch

There are loads of set menus available on Mother’s Day but restaurants such as Sea Containers have gone the extra mile by offering mums a free meal – there’s no excuse not to stuff your faces with offers like this.

Or, why not have a real Mommi’s Day and take her for a delicious 2 course Latin lunch for only £15.50 per person. A proper Peruvian roast served with all the potatoes, cauliflower cheese and greens you could want on a Sunday. Psst! For another £14pp, you can add bottomless prosecco to really get Mother’s Day afternoon going.

6. Who doesn’t love a cute kitty?

If your mum is a secret cat lady, why not take her to sip some tea with a feline friend? Lady Dinah’s Cat Emporium allows you to do just that and with general admission only costing £6.50, this fluffy adventure won’t break the bank.

7. Reach for the stars and make your mum’s singing ambitions come true with a … karaoke night!

At Lucky Voice, Sunday’s slots start from as little as £12 per person and, because it’s Mother’s Day, mum gets a free bottle of prosecco too! Just don’t expect her to share – it is her day after all.
